Postpartum Doula Services

Your postpartum doula is your bestie, baby expert, and confidante, all in one.

Having a postpartum doula is similar to having your best friend over your home soon after the birth of your new baby.  Someone to comfort you, vent to, laugh with, or keep a trusted eye on your baby because you just need some rest.  Perhaps you need an extra set of hands to help you organize the nursery or show you how to use your Moby wrap.  You might not even be certain about how you'll need the support, but you're confident that you do, which makes this friendship even more special.  You're aware of the whirlwind of emotions that comes with having a new baby, and you want someone that's ready to listen with open ears and without judgment or bias.  Most importantly, while you care for your baby, your doula will be there to help nurture and care for you.  We know.  It sounds too good to be true, but we work our magic and make it happen because you deserve it.

If you're anything like our other postpartum clients, you're a planner.  You value self-care and enjoy your rest. As resilient as you are, you know that it takes a village to raise a child.  You strive to minimize the sleepless nights, stress, and anxiety that comes with being a new parent, and want to spend more time  smiling, enjoying your new family, and doing things that matter to you.

Our postpartum doulas can provide one, two, or even a few of the following services during your time together:

  • Newborn Crash Course: We'll show you the ins and outs of taking care of your baby.  Topics that we can discuss together are swaddling, bathing, baby-wearing, sleeping and feeding patterns, relieving gas, recognizing newborn cues (how to determine whether your baby is hungry, sleepy, or gassy), and anything else you have in mind.

  • Breastfeeding Support (If that's how you choose to feed your baby):  Formula, breastmilk, maybe a little of both--Your house, your baby, your rules.  We do have breastfeeding specialists and lactation counselors on our team for when you do need us!

  • Milk Pumping Education & Assistance:  If you plan on giving your baby breastmilk long-term and also plan on going back to work, learning how to efficiently pump and store is essential!

  • Newborn/Infant Care: Your baby will be snuggled, loved, fed, and soothed as you rest, eat, shower, or relax. Our clients love to have us overnight, nurturing their baby while they get their well-deserved sleep.  You'll wake up feeling rejuvenated with a fed and happy baby, an organized home, and the energy needed to take on the day.

  • Guidance on creating systems to balance parenting with the rest of your life:  Our goal is to leave you feeling so confident about yourself, your baby, family, and home and everything in between that you no longer need us.  We'll help you create routines and schedules to make things just a little bit easier for you so that can run your household like a boss after our time together is done.

  • Sibling Care: We help older children in the house adjust to the new family, while giving them the attention they crave while you're caring for your newborn. We come in handy when your partner is out at work (or if you're a single parent, like me!)  With a doula present, you can be reassured that each of your children are getting the nurturance and love that they deserve. All of our doulas are CPR & First-Aid Certified, by the way.

  • Identification of normal vs not-so-normal recovery: We aren't medical professionals... But if something seems a little off, whether physically, emotionally, or mentally with you or anyone else in your family, we'll provide you with referrals and resources so that you get the needed help.

  • FMLA/Family Leave Application Assistance: Being a parent is a full-time job.  We can help you determine whether you qualify for paid family leave and help you navigate the paperwork to make sure you get paid during your time at home with your new baby.

Even the best parents need a break.  How can you take care of your child if you aren't taking care of yourself?
