Postpartum Doula FAQ

What’s the difference between a postpartum doula, night nurse, and newborn care specialist?
Postpartum doulas support the whole family, not just the baby. Night nurses and newborn care specialists focus primarily on baby care. Unlike many night nurses who rely solely on experience, our doulas are trained and certified professionals and are up-to-date on evidenced-based guidance, physical and emotional childbirth recovery, navigating life with a new baby, and of course, newborn care.
How do postpartum packages work?
You can book hourly packages with flexible daytime or overnight schedules tailored to your family's needs. Daytime sessions can be 4-6 hours long, and overnight sessions 8-12 hours.
How far in advance should I secure a postpartum doula?
Most families secure support during the second trimester to ensure availability and allow time to build a relationship with their doula.
Do you provide overnight support?
Yes! Overnight support is invaluable for establishing sleep routines, helping parents rest, and providing reassurance during the first few weeks.
Can a postpartum doula help with breastfeeding or pumping?
Yes. Many doulas are trained in lactation support and can guide you through breastfeeding challenges, pumping routines, and milk supply management. We can also connect you with board-certified lactation consultants if needed.
