Her birthwork centers Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, Queer folx, first generation folx, Spanish speaking folx, all people who have been made to feel othered, ignored and cast aside. As the middle child to two Dominican parents, her introduction to health advocacy started early. She would translate documents from English to Spanish, translate during medical appointments and help her parents and grandmother access other services. Jennifer is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Guatemala 2014-2016, which is where she developed a love for birthwork. She hosted pregnancy support groups, workshops, and conducted postpartum visits. Also developed a health education training of trainers program for nurses, health educators, and social workers to improve facilitation skills and learn to deliver health information in a fun, accessible way. When she’s not reminding her clients who’s boss (them, of course), you can find her snuggled up with her two cats, Brooklyn and Pablo or scribbling poetry in her journal.

2019 was a turning point for Tasheea. After 12 years of building a career within the biopharmaceutical industry, she felt the strong calling to pursue an alternate, slightly undefined path. In the first 90 days, she started the journey toward obtaining certification as a full-spectrum doula and community herbalist. A myriad of reasons fueled this decision - some based on personal experiences of reproductive challenges and loss; others based on a strong desire to see improvement in the pre-and post-natal care for women of color, but also a thirst to provide women and couples with the information and support needed to go through the beautiful journey of pregnancy and early stages of parenthood with confidence.
